How to Get Attention of Listeners- February 5, 2011

If you as a teacher are having problems with getting the attention of listeners  This is the title Get Their Attention Every Time You Speak
This is a must see  video and it is important to see. I suggest you watch the video below. This video can help give you tips on how to keep the attention in your classroom.

As a teacher it is important to have your students listen to you. To get your students attention you can clap your hands and make sure that the students follow. If the students are not listening and you need to get their attention as the teacher you can clap you hands and say 1-2-3 all eyes on me. If that does not work then as the teacher you can go over to the lights and turn the lights off and see the class of students gets silent and then say if you are quiet I will turn the lights back on. If that does not work then you can sit or stand quietly at the front of the room and wait for the class to be quiet. If the students are not paying attention or focusing to get back their attention I can say 1-2 eyes on me. These are some things to do to get the students to listen.

This video is about how people dose off when someone else is speaking. It talks about how to get and keep someone's attention. Karen talks about the different approaches to keeping someone's attention when speaking. One approach is to ask a question. Another approach is to tell a story. It is important when telling a story to paint a picture and have some sort of message. A third approach is to start with a quote which hooks the listener and gives the listener a reason to listen. A final approach is powerful numbers.

As a teacher this video shows great advice on how to engage the students at the start of a lesson. It also says to have the students engaged in the lesson from beginning to end. So in order to do that the teacher should ask questions throughout the lesson. It is also a good idea for teachers to tell a story to the students so that the students can get the message and understand what the students are learning about. It is good the start the lesson with a hook to get the students engaged and then the students are going to want to learn the material and stay on task. This video taught me three great ways to keep the students in the class attention throughout a lesson. As a future teacher, I will try to use these three approaches of telling a story, start with a quote/ hook, and ask questions. These three approaches are important for teachers to use when teaching students. These three approaches with help students stay on task and maintain their focus and attention to the lesson.
